In order to successfully apply to become a Canadian citizen as an adult, you must meet the following conditions:
1.You must be at least 18 years old to apply;
2.You must be a permanent resident of Canada and not subject to an immigration investigation or a removal order;
3.You have to reside in Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) in the past four years before applying. Time that you spent in Canada before you became a permanent resident within the four-year period counts up to a determined maximum.
4.You have to demonstrate, through testing, sufficient knowledge of either English or French, unless you are under 18 or over 54;
5.You must not have a criminal record in Canada or aboard;
6.You will need to show adequate knowledge of Canadian system of government, values and history.
