If you are sponsoring a spouse, common law or conjugal partner or a family member to Canada, or if you are getting married or separating we can help you. We can also assist you in preparation of Last Wills and Testaments, Trusts, Living Wills and Powers of Attorney. Our Toronto family lawyer can assist you in making cohabitation agreements, marriage contracts and separation agreements. We do not deal with complex financial matters. In immigration law, we specialize in spousal, common law and family sponsorships for permanent residence.

All family law and immigration law consultations include a one hour meeting with a Toronto family lawyer or a Toronto immigration lawyer, who will provide an assessment of your case at the end of your legal consultation. Please note we do NOT offer free legal consultations. Please contact the Law Society of Upper Canada for a list of lawyers who provide free legal consultations.

Fees for most family law and immigration services are subject to an hourly rate. We understand that legal costs can be daunting expenditures for many people. We offer interest free financing options for our clients. In circumstances of exceptional hardship, we may reduce our fees on a sliding scale or accept Legal Aid Ontario certificates. Some matters are conducive to a flat fee. In such cases, we provide competitively priced packages. As of July 1, 2010, all prices are subject to Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) of 13%.

Initial Consultation Fee (Family Law) - $190.00 + HST.

Initial Consultaton Fee (Immigration Law) - $170.00 + HST.

Please note that no refunds will be issued for initial consultations unless we receive a notice of cancelation at least 24 hours before the scheduled meeting.

Immigration Law Fees


Spousal Sponsorships: Although we charge a flat fee for spousal sponsorships, the amount may vary depending on the complexity of each case. The exact amount will be determined following an initial consultation. We will work with you to ensure that you can afford to bring your loved ones to Canada.

Visitor Visas to Canada: $799.00 + HST and Disbursements.

Study Permits (Student Visas): $799.00 + HST and Disbursements.

Family Law Fees


Uncontested and Joint Divorces - $640.00 + HST and Disbursements.

Independent Legal Advice (Marriage Contracts, Separation Agreements, Cohabitation Agreements) - $399.00 + HST.

Foreign Divorce Opinion Letters - $370 + HST.

People divorced outside of Canada may have a more difficult time obtaining an Ontario marriage licence. One of the requirements to acquire a marriage licence is that the marrying couple must get the opinion of an Ontario lawyer that the divorce would be recognized here. A legal opinion letter from an Ontario lawyer must be addressed to both applicants, and must provide reasons as to why the divorce should be recognized in the Province of Ontario.

Consent to Travel Document

Drafting and notarization of consent to travel document for when a child is travelling without one or both parents - From $70.00 (+ applicable taxes)

Estate Law Fees


Single Will - $399.00 + HST

Reciprocal Wills - $599.00 + HST

Affidavit of Execution - $39.00 + HST

Powers of Attorney for Property, Personal Care or Living Wills - $160.00 + HST

We can prepare Estate Planning packages that are tailored to give you the maximum vale for your money. For complex matters additional fees or hourly rates may apply. The following are our estate packages:

  • Basic Estate Planning package for a single person - $599.00 + HST (Simple Will and two Affidavits of execution, two Powers of Attorney and a Living Will.)
  • Basic Estate Planning Package for spouses, common-law and conjugal couples, with no children or beneficiaries under 18 - $899.00 + HST (Two Simple Wills, four Powers of Attorney, including two Living Wills and four Affidavits of Execution.)
  • Basic Estate Planning Package for single persons with beneficiaries under 18 - $699.00 + HST (One Will, two Powers of Attorney, a Living Will and an Affidavit of Execution.)
  • Basic Estate Planning Package for spouses, common-law and conjugal couples, with beneficiaries under 18 - $1,200.00 + HST (Two Simple Wills, Four Powers of Attorney, including two Living Wills and four Affidavits of Execution.)


Notary Service Fees


1st Notarization/Commission/Certification/Exhibit - $25.00 (+ applicable taxes)
2nd Notarization/Commission/Certification/Exhibit - $15.00 (+ applicable taxes)
3rd Notarization/Commission/Certification/Exhibit - $10.00 (+ applicable taxes)
4th and subsequent Notarization/Commission - $7.00 (+ applicable taxes)
More than 18 - Price varies on number of documents.

Letter of invitation for the purposes of applying for a Canadian visitor's visa (includes notarization fee) - From $90.00 (+ applicable taxes)

Statutory Declaration (includes Declaration in lieu of guarantor for the Passport Application)

Includes certification of applicant's photo, declaration in lieu of guarantor and certification of documents that support the applicant's identity) - From $40 (+ applicable taxes)

Certified Copy of Passport (including every page) - From $40.00 (+ applicable taxes)
